As you would remember how I started the Fall to Winter Essentials Series by introducing Ponchos, let’s cover its sibling-concern-Blanket Scarf, this week to be wholly fall-to-winter-ready. Ever since I added this Blanket Scarf to my wardrobe, it has killed my love for all other scarves out there.. (Darn you regular scarves, bring me the same level of comfort then we’ll talk..) No seriously, it’s called “Blanket” Scarf for a reason. Do you recall those chilly winter mornings when you are just not ready to get out of your cozy-lazy blanket?? How about I tell you, you don’t have to anymore, instead tag it along to work, school, etc.. Literally! Okay, not literally, but almost!!
Like all other signature winter wardrobe pieces, add a little Plaid to it. There you go, your oversized, may be dorky (one may argue) Blanket Scarf is now trendy and stylish.
Now, do I need to remind you of my compulsion-disorder? No right!! So let’s just get started on discussing the multiple ways I styled this Plaid Blanket Scarf. FYI, I am giving those cookie-cutter-scarf-styling-ways such as tubes, knots, circle-wrapping, etc., a pass here. I think we all have been there, done that.
Look #1 Bat-Winged-Look The Poncho look – Yes, that’s true. If you own an oversized blanket scarf, you don’t really need to buy a Poncho separately. The Blanket Scarf ends can be nicely tucked in together, using a safety pin or a fancy brooch, to make a poncho out of it. As you can see in the pictures below, the oversized Poncho elegantly takes over your entire top/dress. So, wear your ugly christmas sweater or your laundry-day-granny top under it, who’s going to notice, eh? This one is especially cozier as you can comfortably fold your hands and stay warm underneath the Blanket layers.
Look #2 Egyptian princess look – Bring both the ends of the Plaid Blanket Scarf in front and bundle them up together with a waist belt. That’s it. Simple, quick yet Elegant!! I like how entire front part gets covered with the many pleats of the scarf and helps to keep it warm.
Look #3 The Knotted Look – Now, borrow the same belt from look #2, and tie it around all the gathered ends of the Blanket Scarf. This one covers the entire shoulder and neck area and keeps it warm.
Plaid Blanket Scarf – Accessorize, Tights – Joe Fresh, Shoes – Aldo, Belt – G.H. Bass & Co., Sunnies – Ray Ban Round Folding Series, Bag – Chill on Broadway
